22 nov 2023 · The story of Issachar in the Bible is largely focused on his role as an ancestor of the tribes of Israel. In the Book of Genesis, Issachar is listed as one of the twelve sons of Jacob, and is later mentioned in the blessings of Moses in Deuteronomy. The Psalmist compares him to a swift-footed donkey, and lists him in the blessing from Psalm 68.
In Apocalypse Revealed 358 we read: "By ‘Issachar’ is signified in the highest sense divine good of truth and truth of good, in the spiritual sense the heavenly conjugial love that is of good and truth, and in the natural sense reward." Again, however, much the same kind of force is in operation today as was the case in Jacob's day.
