Accommodation. Merton offers all students accommodation for every year of their degree; it’s reasonably priced (some of the cheapest at Oxford) and gives you an opportunity to live in everything from newly upgraded rooms to on the oldest Quad in Oxford (if you’re lucky). Current books, periodicals, and DVDs for use by members of the college are housed in both the Old Warden's Lodgings (OWL) in Merton Street and in the Lower Library in Mob Quadrangle (Mob). The Old Warden’s Lodgings is an impressive Edwardian building that retains domestic features, such as the original fireplaces and window seats, which make for a welcoming, pleasant study environment.

Mathematics and joint schools. Mathematics is amongst the largest and oldest schools in Merton, with a long and illustrious history dating nearly all the way back to the foundation of the college in 1264. Maths, Maths & Computer Science, Maths & Philosophy, and Maths & Statistics are four-year degree courses leading to Masters degrees.
The nineteenth century marks the admission of the first undergraduates to the Library: in 1822 for one hour each week. In about 1870, the College agreed to spend £20 annually on modern history books under the short-lived scheme of specialisation by colleges in different subjects.
