2 apr 2022 · By the time James Earl Jones was born in 1931, the Los Angeles Times says that his father, Robert Earl Jones (pictured), had already abandoned his mother. At the time, the elder Jones was working as a sharecropper, left his little Mississippi-based family, and headed to Memphis.
