The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is the place where the British Army trains their officers. The school is located near Sandhurst, Berkshire, about 55 kilometres (34 mi) southwest of London. The latter was established by royal warrant in 1802 at Great Marlow, largely as a result of the efforts of Colonel J.G. Le Marchant and General Francis Jarry, an exiled French officer, who had organized a training school for officers at High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire three years earlier. The Royal Military College was moved to Sandhurst in 1812.
