Karoliiniluutnantti Pehr Gustaf Svinhufvud af Qvalstad oli muuttanut Ruotsista taloon kotivävyksi isonvihan jälkeen. Suku oli aateloitu 1574. Rapola joutui pakkohuutokauppaan, kun isoisä ampui itsensä. Pehr Evind Svinhufvud muutti alle kouluikäisenä äitinsä Olga von Beckerin ja vuotta vanhemman sisarensa kanssa Helsinkiin.

Pehr Evind Svinhufvud oli Konstantin Pätsi sõber ning ta külastas 1934. ja 1936. aastal Eestit. [1] 17. märtsil 1934 andis ta käsu, et Helsingis ilmuva ajalehe Ajan Suunta peatoimetaja Somersalo kohtulikule vastutusele võetaks artiklite pärast, mis sisaldavad solvavaid väljendusi Konstantin Pätsi, Soomega sõprussuhetes oleva maa riigipea kohta [2] .
Pehr Evind Svinhufvud af Qvalstad ( 15. prosinec 1861 Sääksmäki – 29. únor 1944 Luumäki) byl finský právník, politik a státník. V letech 1931 – 1937 zastával úřad prezidenta Finské republiky. V době Finského velkoknížectví v rámci Ruského impéria působil jako právník, soudce a politik.

More or less throughout the 1920s Pehr Evind Svinhufvud remained on the margins of political life. He worked as a managing director in a bank, but when he didn’t get ahead, he turned his attention to farming in Luumki. Svinhufvud was however active in the civil guard. It wasn’t until the end of the decade that he returned to politics.
