Il grandit à Burbank (Californie) où il forme en 1960 un duo avec son frère Jim, les Yester Brothers, qui se produit dans des clubs folkloriques de Los Angeles. Jerome Alan Yester (born January 9, 1943) is an American former folk rock musician, record producer, and arranger. He became the Lovin' Spoonful's guitarist after Zal Yanovsky left the band in 1967.
