Baden Powell met Vinicius de Moraes in 1962 and began a collaboration that yielded some true classics of 1960s Brazilian music. Although bossa nova was the prevailing sound of the times, the partnership Baden-Vinicius wanted to transcend the then-fashionable sound by syncretizing Afro-Brazilian forms such as Candomblé, Umbanda and Capoeira with Rio de Janeiro’s Samba forms.

28 feb 2008 · A poet devoted to writing books, Vinicius De Moraes started a partnership with Antonio Carlos Jobim, writing essential pieces for Brazilian music. His lyrics were somewhere between the dark, dramatic, and painful “samba-ballads" and the solar lightness of Bossa Nova, which prevailed from 1958 on, when Joo Gilberto had many hit singles with the duo's songs.
Vinicius de Moraes nasceu em 1913 no bairro da Gávea, no Rio de Janeiro, filho de Clodoaldo Pereira da Silva Moraes, funcionário da Prefeitura, poeta e violinista amador, e Lydia Cruz de Moraes, [ 10] pianista amadora. Vinícius é o segundo de quatro filhos, Lygia (1911), Laetitia (1916) e Helius (1918). [ 6]
