As a co-educational boarding and day school, all applications to study at Ripon Grammar School are by academic selection only. There are three main admission points, at Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 (Sixth Form), but In-Year testing can be arranged in any year and, if successful and if vacancies arise, students can be admitted to the school.
We are proud of being named top performing state school in the North in The Sunday Times Parent Power guide for ten consecutive years. In 2023 RGS students achieved a 99.8% pass rate at A level (Grades A-E), 82.7% of Grades were at A*-B and 56.3% A*-A, with 18.8% (98 grades) at A*. Read more here.
Boarding Admissions. Ripon Grammar School is a selective, co-educational state boarding school for pupils with families based in the UK or overseas. Ripon Grammar School has two boarding houses - one for girls (Johnson House) and one for boys (School House). Each house can accommodate 50 boarders.
