February 2007, James Ammons, Ph.D., chancellor of North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C., was named the 10 th president of Florida A&M University. Dr. Ammons served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs for Florida A&M University from October 1995 until becoming chancellor of North Carolina Central University in 2001.
