  1. 1 gen 2001 · But not always obvious in those stories was his brilliance as a pure scientist―one of the century's greatest physicists. With this book and CD, we hear the voice of the great Feynman in all his ingenuity, insight, and acumen for argument. This breathtaking lecture―"The Motion of the Planets Around the Sun"―uses nothing more advanced than ...

  2. 17 giu 1996 · After years of detective work, Feynman's friends reconstruct his lecture on the motion of planets around the sun. Forgoing calculus, Feynman makes a geometrical argument starting with Newton's geometric proof. But he quickly diverges away from Newton to complete his original proof in his own enlightening manner. An impressive proof clearly written.

Feynman's "lost" lecture were the audiotape and a few pages of notes that Feynman jotted down for himself. Most of the lecture derives from the page at left: the figure at upper left is copied from Newton's Principia. FeYl11nal1's Lost Lecture The Motion of Planets Around the Sun by David L. 4. 6 nov 2009 · This breathtaking lecture—"The Motion of the Planets Around the Sun"—uses nothing more advanced than high-school geometry to explain why the planets orbit the sun elliptically rather than in perfect circles, and conclusively demonstrates the astonishing fact that has mystified and intrigued thinkers since Newton: Nature obeys mathematics.

  5. 17 feb 2000 · But Feynman's Lost Lecture: The Motion of Planets Around the Sun shows that the great man did just that. Originally delivered to an introductory physics class at Caltech in 1963, this 76-minute CD and book set contains everything the math-savvy listener needs to savor the pleasures of applied math.

  6. As expected, Feynman provides an insightful exposition of the motion of the planets, beautifully arranged by the authors. After a few historical remarks you can find a proof of how Kepler's first law can be derived form Newton's formula in purely geometric flavour (along the lines of the proof originally given by Newton himself).

  7. Feynman's Lost Lecture: The Motion of Planets Around the Sun. The great theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize winnder, Richard Feynman, left an indelible imprint on scientific thought. On 14 March 1964 he delivered a remarkable lecture which, until now, was believed to be lost. His lecture was about a single fact, though by no means a small one.
