De Cive (1642) rappresenta l’espressione più chiara del pensiero di Hobbes: nelle tre parti che la compongono (Libertà, Potere, Religione) vengono infatti trattati con insostituibile rigore sistematico i temi centrali della politica moderna, dall’origine e struttura dello Stato ai suoi rapporti con la Chiesa.
