First Rays drags on for too long and becomes a chore to listen to IMO.   5. `Voodoo Soup' released in 1995 was Alan Douglas' re-imagining of Jimi Hendrix's fourth studio album, originally planned for release in 1971 and to be titled `First Ray (or 'Rays') of the New Rising Sun.' Fans will know that when in 1997 the Hendrix family won legal control over all subsequent commercial releases of Jimi's recorded material, `Voodoo Soup' was withdrawn from sale by court order.
