The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre, established in 1994, is an independent not-for-profit institution providing research and training on all aspects of peace operations.

Three Unique Features. A Global Visionary – Pearson College UWC was created and named to honour the legacy of 1957 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Lester B. Pearson, a former prime minister, whose vision of peace and global cooperation inspired him to ask: “How can there be peace without people understanding each other, and how can this be if they don’t know each other?”
Pearson College UWC is incorporated by the official designation Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific and United World Colleges (Canada) Inc. under the Canada Corporations Act. The College is also registered under the British Columbia Society Act as an extra-provincial society and is a registered charity under the Federal Income Tax Act.
As Lester B. Pearson himself once said, “How can there be peace without people understanding each other; and how can this be if they don’t know each other?” Choosing a career at Pearson College, all employees are contributing to our experiential program, while supporting our students in their chosen endeavours in many different ways.
