Martika es hija de un matrimonio de cubanos (Oriundos, a su vez, de Canarias ), que emigraron de la isla a Estados Unidos en 1959. Desde muy pequeña se sintió atraída por la música. Ya a los cuatro años, comenzó a tomar clases de canto y danza. Con 13 años debutó como bailarina en el film “ Annie ” (1982), dirigido por John Huston.

MARTIKA released the dance single Flow With The Go in 2012 and has since returned to the stage performing her past hits to loving audiences worldwide. Highlights include performing to a sold out crowd of 12,500 in Santiago, Chile (Movistar Arena) with Rick Astley, Samantha Fox and Debbie Gibson as part of the Hit Parade Festival.

Martika's self-titled debut album was also released in 1989. On her second LP, 1991's Martika's Kitchen, she received songwriting assistance from Prince, to whom she was also briefly romantically linked. Martika returned to television by joining the cast of Wiseguy. In 1999, she recorded "The Happy Song." ~ Michael Sutton
