1 mag 2008 · Legendary artist Patti Smith and My Bloody Valentines Kevin Shields are set to release a doubledisc set of their live performance of The Coral Sea on July 8th, 2008 on their own PASK imprint. "The Coral Sea" is Patti Smith's posthumous homage to her friend and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe and thetitle to her 1997 book.

His guitar playing, which is the only music on this album, has a film score sweep and post-rock bent to it, reminding one of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, some of Brian Eno's work, and yes, Loveless. In fact Shields seems to move closer and closer to the sounds of Loveless as the album progresses, in response to Smith's rising intensity.
