Allan Holdsworth (* 6. August 1946 in Bradford, Yorkshire; † 15. April 2017 in Vista, Kalifornien) [1] war ein britischer Jazzgitarrist . Da nach seinen Klangvorstellungen die Gitarre wie ein Saxophon klingen sollte, experimentierte Holdsworth früh mit elektronischen Verfremdungen. Er war einer der britischen Pioniere des Jazzrock.

Allan Holdsworth (n. 6 august 1946, Bradford, Anglia, Regatul Unit – d. 15 aprilie 2017, Vista (d), California, SUA) a fost un chitarist și compozitor englez. De-a lungul a peste patru decenii a cântat numeroase stiluri muzicale dar este cel mai cunoscut ca muzician de jazz fusion .
Allan Holdsworth grandit près de Bradford, dans le nord de l'Angleterre [3], élevé par ses grands-parents Sam et Elsie Holdsworth, qu'il considère comme ses parents [4]. Son grand-père, Sam Holdsworth, est un pianiste ayant abandonné l'idée de mener carrière dans le jazz ; il travaille comme manutentionnaire [3].
