Brief Synopsis. The story of His Majesty's Jewish brigade Group, the only all-Jewish fighting unit in World War II. Denied the right to fight as Jews by the British, the men of the Brigade eventually see combat during the final Allied offensive in northern Italy. After the war, they remain in Europe for a series of.
The film tells "The Hidden Story of the Jewish Brigade", some 5,500 Palestinian Jews who prevailed upon Winston Churchill to let them fight the Nazis in their own Jewish unit during the war. When the war ended, they defied their British commanders and (secretly) did their utmost to help Jewish refugees and survivors by secretly transporting them to Palestine.
In Our Own Hands shows viewers the birth of this “Citizen Science” movement, and introduces a few of the courageous, imaginative individuals who are ushering in a new age of Digital Medicine. This film will change the way you think about illness and medicine’s role in keeping us well.
Through the stories of the impassioned, often defiant struggles of the film’s three central characters—all with complex, unresolved medical issues— we explore the emergence of “participatory medicine”, enabled by a host of groundbreaking technologies that put more data about our own biological, behavioral and environmental ecosystems into our hands than ever before possible.
