What this film does well is, perhaps surprisingly, to comment on modern warfare - the desolate landscapes, the empty villages, the small units of soldiers to whom everyone is a potential enemy. The darkness at Outpost 2's heart never quite lives up to this existential horror.
The second of the three Outpost films, Black Sun retreads a lot of what the original did with Nazi zombies and their machine that will make them immortal. This film is a bit of an improvement over the original in that although it has more unlikable military characters there are also two investigators including one played by Catherine Steadman who are somewhat likeable.
