Primarily a recording project, the duo performed live about a dozen times -- generally in conjunction with Projekt Festivals -- almost all of them acoustically. Love Spirals Downwards' last live show was in 1998. In 1999, Lum began working with a new collaborator, Anji Bee, under the shortened moniker of Lovespirals.
In late 2007 Projekt released Love Spirals Downwards’ out-of-print debut album, Idylls, and follow-up, Ardor. These beautifully redesigned digipac CDs were completely remastered from the original DAT masters — along with extra material including live recordings, compilation-only tracks, and out-takes from the original album recording sessions — hand selected and assembled by Lum.
11 ago 2023 · Love Spirals Downwards was begun by multi-instrumentalist Ryan Lum and then-girlfriend Suzanne Perry. In 1991, Lum and Perry recorded a demo, which led to a contract with Projekt Records. Over its 8-year history, the band released four full-length albums, a career retrospective, and a CD single, selling (by their own account) in excess of 40,000 CDs.
