Beautifully written, King's Counsellor is largely made up of his war time diary and letters written after 1946 until his death.
Alan Lascelles, né le 11 avril 1887 à Sutton Waldron et mort le 10 août 1981 à Londres, est un homme politique britannique, secrétaire privé des monarques George VI et Élisabeth II de 1943 à 1953.
Sir Alan Lascelles was born into the courtier class. A grandson of the 4 th Earl of Harewood, he was educated at Marlborough and Trinity College, Cambridge. He became assistant private secretary to the Prince of Wales in 1920 having served as aide-de-camp to his brother-in-law, Lord Lloyd, who was Governor of Bombay.
16 mag 2007 · Lascelles's last entry was in 1946 - he was just too tired to continue - and he retired in 1953 as Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary, having served four monarchs. Though he often helped historians before his death in 1981 at the age of 94, he offered only tantalizing glimpses of his raw diaries, carefully locked away in a chest.
