Kawakubo, Rei nell'Enciclopedia Treccani - Treccani - Treccani. Stilista giapponese (n. Tokyo 1942). Dopo essersi laureata in lettere presso l' università di Keio, ha fondato il marchio di prêt-à-porter Comme des Garçons (1973). La prima collezione della griffe ha sfilato a Tokyo nel 1975.

Insieme a Yohji Yamamoto e Issey Miyake, fa parte della triade giapponese che, alla fine degli anni ’70, costringe al rinnovamento la moda europea. Nasce a Tokyo, dove muove i primi passi nella moda nell’industria tessile.
