Formed in Los Angeles in 1979, Translator began as a trio of Steve Barton (guitar), Larry Dekker (bass) and Dave Scheff (drums). They would soon be joined by guitarist Robert Darlington, and that quartet lineup remains -- constant and unchanged, a rarity in the world of music -- to this day.

Steve Barton - TRANSLATOR. The four-piece band was formed in Los Angeles in 1979 when singer/songwriter/guitarist Steve Barton linked up with Larry Dekker on bass and Dave Scheff on drums. A second singer/songwriter/guitarist, Robert Darlington, joined soon after and completed the lineup.
