19 giu 2024 · Hwaseong Fortress or Suwon Hwaseong (Korean: 수원 화성) is a fortification surrounding the centre of Suwon, the provincial capital of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It was built from 1794 to 1796 by King Jeongjo of the Joseon dynasty to house and honour the remains of his father, Prince Sado.
4 giorni fa · Hwaseong Fortress, built under the orders of King Jeongjo in 1796, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The entire city used to be encircled by the fortress walls, but Suwon has long since expanded far beyond this boundary.

If you ever visit Suwon, you will notice that all of the city logos have the Hwaseong Gate, which serves as a symbol for the city.
