She is best known for her works of speculative fiction, including science fiction works set in her Hainish universe, and the Earthsea fantasy series.
She has a family and lives a full half-life and only finds herself when a child who was eaten away by the world needs her. In the final book she has the unexpected gift of reconnecting to her culture that was stolen from her, through Seserakh. And finally we get to see her come home, the series ends with Tenar coming home.
