25 mag 2024 · Alex does a good job of singing “Everything I Am”, but Dan Penn is guilty of that common 1960s producers’ practice of placing one of his own songs on an album he was producing. He and Spooner Oldham wrote some great songs, I wish one of them had been on the album instead of this one.
25 mag 2024 · I see you're not doing live LPs but there's Chilton penned tracks on some that only appear there - A Little Fishy on One Day In New York for example. Then there's lots of covers - Boogie Shoes Live On Beale Street and other similar things, Songs From Robin Hood Lane.
25 mag 2024 · There is a good chapter on Alex, the Box Tops, and Big Star in it. His follow up, Memphis Rent Party, is also excellent, and has another chapter on Alex in it. (I read them one after the other, so I can't remember what's in each book.)
