Martin Buber (1878–1965) war ein österreichisch-israelischer Religionsphilosoph. Er unterrichtete bis 1951 an der Hebräischen Universität von Jerusalem Soziologie und Anthropologie. 1953 erhielt er den Friedenspreis des Deutschen Buchhandels. 1955 gründete er mit Hannah Arendt und anderen in New York das Leo Baeck Institut.
