Yasuke (born c. 1550s) was a Black samurai who served the daimyo Oda Nobunaga in Japan during the Sengoku (“Warring States”) period. He was the first known foreigner to achieve samurai status.

6 giorni fa · Yasuke managed to make his way to Nijo Castle in Kyoto to assist Oda Nobutada, Nobunaga’s eldest son. This latest action proves that Yasuke was either ordered to do so by Nobunaga, or held the Oda family in high regard as a warrior. Eventually he was captured near the home of Nobutada, after which all records dissapear.
15 mag 2024 · With his lord gone, Yasuke is said to have sought out Nobunaga’s son, Oda Nobutada, who was nearby. He fought with Nobutada’s men against Mitsuhide, but they were completely outnumbered.
