Anne Elizabeth Darwin (2 March 1841 – 23 April 1851) was the second child and eldest daughter of Charles and Emma Darwin . Annie's grave in Great Malvern.
Charles and Emma Darwin’s eldest daughter, Annie, died at the age of ten in 1851. Emma was heavily pregnant with their fifth son, Horace, at the time and could not go with Charles when he took Annie to Malvern to consult the hydrotherapist, Dr Gully.

Anne Elizabeth, or “Annie,” was the first daughter of the Darwins. Charles referred to her upon her passing as the “joy of the household” in his memorial piece dedicated to her. When she fell ill at the age of 10, her father brought her to the hydrotherapist, Dr. Gully.
