5 giorni fa · In May 1333 Edward III imposed a siege on Berwick. After Douglas’ strategy of diversionary raids on the north of England failed to break the siege Archibald made a direct attempt to relieve the town and was killed in the ensuing battle on Halidon Hill on 19 July 1333.
