21 ott 2024 · The first earl's son William, earl of Salisbury (d. 1397), in 1394 conveyed the reversion on his death to John Beaufort (cr. earl of Somerset 1397, d. 1410). Beaufort was succeeded in turn by his sons Henry (d. 1418) and John (cr. duke of Somerset 1443, d. 1444).

26 ott 2024 · Henry Beaufort was the eldest surviving son of Edmund Beaufort, duke of Somerset and his wife Eleanor Beauchamp. Following his father’s death at the Battle of St. Albans in 1455, Henry inherited the dukedom.
