Politico e scrittore inglese (Ickworth 1696 - Londra 1743). Nel parlamento (1725) aderì all'opposizione contro R. Walpole diretta da W. Pulteney, ma dopo l'assunzione al trono di Giorgio II desistette.
Oltre alle Memorie, edite da J. W. Croker, Hervey's Memoirs of the Court of George II, Londra 1848, scrisse molti libelli politici. Gli fu anche attribuito quello intitolato Sedition and Defamation displayed , contro Pulteney e Bolingbroke, che provocò una risposta offensiva di Pulteney.
