[ 6 ] It is one of the wealthiest Oxford colleges, as of 2022, [ 3 ] and one of the strongest academically, setting the record for the highest Norrington Score in 2010 and topping the table twice since then. C.S. Lewis began his Oxford career as a student at University College in 1917. In 1925 he was appointed Fellow and Tutor in English at Magdalen College, where he remained until his election to the Professorship of Medieval and Renaissance English at the University of Cambridge in 1954.
