I knew the film was special early on when everything has gone to complete shit, and the two let out these harrowing cathartic yells during a thunderstorm, and it's just a punch to the gut.

At the end of the day, film-Frodo is the voluntary sacrificial lamb. A vessel for the Ring, and not much else. He is shown to be cowardly, stupid, and detrimental to the quest on numerous occasions. He is a passive damsel more often than not. He is a horrible Ringbearer. That's harsh lol.
