17 mag 2024 · Henry Howard had been in disfavour throughout Elizabeth's reign on account of his association with Mary Queen of Scots and of his Catholic sympathies. He succeeded, however, in ingratiating himself with James VI of Scotland, on whose accession to the English throne he was made a privy councillor. He was created Earl of Northampton in 1604.

One party among the regents had wished to elect Charles, Duke of York, who was nominated without the king's consent. This aroused royal displeasure and made Northampton unwilling to stand, but eventually he agreed to accept office.

The station in St. John's Street was opened in 1872. The Grand Junction Canal joins the Nene at Northampton, this branch having been completed in 1815.

15 mag 2024 · Henry Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel. Lady Elizabeth Stuart. Henry Howard (12 July 1628 – 13 January 1684), 6th Duke of Norfolk, was an English nobleman and politician. He was the second son of Henry Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel, and Lady Elizabeth Stuart. He succeeded his brother Thomas Howard, 5th Duke of Norfolk, after Thomas's death in 1677.
