16 mag 2024 · Ferrari could already count on a suitable engine, an in-line 4-cylinder designed by Aurelio Lampredi in the 2.5 and 2-liter versions. The new car, dubbed the 500 F2, had virtually no rivals in 1952 and 1953, clinching 14 victories out of 15 grands prix. Ascari was world champion in both seasons.

A special, longer, aerodynamic nose was also designed for fast circuits. The power of the 1985cc 4-cylinder, which in 1952 was around 165 horsepower, in 1953 went up to 185 horsepower.
