Er gilt neben seinen Mitstreitern Vivaldi, Telemann, Händel und weiteren bekannten Komponisten als Höhepunkt der Barockmusik. Die Barock-Epoche endet mit seinem Tod im Jahre 1750.

Pachelbel was briefly employed in Eisenach, Bach’s birthplace, where he met J.S. Bach’s father, Johann Ambrosius Bach and developed a close friendship with the Bach family.
