Margaret Hamilton was born circa 1585.[1] She was the daughter of Claud Hamilton, 1st Lord Paisley and Margaret Seton.[1] She married William Douglas, 1st Marquess of Douglas, son of William Douglas, 10th Earl of Angus and Elizabeth Oliphant, in 1601.[1] She died on 11 September 1623.[1] From 1601, her married name became Douglas.
