11 giu 2024 · Robertson wrote only four songs on Big Pink (he wrote or co-wrote everything on the group’s self-titled follow-up) and was not typically part of the vocal blend. But he had three fabulously distinctive singers at his disposal in drummer Levon Helm, pianist Richard Manuel, and bassist Rick Danko.

7 giu 2024 · The band says: “Although it’s unclear precisely who Robbie Robertson wrote ‘Stage Fright’ about (himself, Danko, Dylan…?), one thing that is for sure is that his haunting lyrics and Danko’s masterful vocal performance captured something timeless and universal.
The Band was one of the most important roots rock groups of the 1960s. The influential group, which included Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson, began in Canada and then migrated to the U.S. It was the subject of a Martin Scorsese documentary, The Last Waltz.
6 giorni fa · Founding member, and guitarist, of The Band, Robbie Robertson, has sadly passed away aged 80. Most will remember him for his solo smash hit Somewhere Down The Crazy River from ‘87. But do yourself a favour this morning and listen to his outstanding work with The Band.
