She did not, however, have another notable film role until 1979, when she played a supporting part in Edwards’s popular comedy 10 (1979).

Junie B. Jones, maybe? In the original series, she's a kindergartener, but there's a whole series in 1st grade too. The Magic Treehouse series was one of my favorites :) The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles is a fun read, but it might be a little advanced for independent reading. The Doll People is another fun series.
