L'Ara Pacis Augustae (Altare della pace di Augusto) è un antico altare fatto costruire a Roma nel 9 a.C. dal senato, dedicato alla Pace (in latino Pax, nell'accezione di divinità) inaugurato dall'imperatore Augusto.

L’Ara Pacis è un esempio emozionante di scultura romana ai primi germogli. L’altare è il monumento che ricorda le vittorie di Augusto e simboleggia l’instaurazione della pace nell’ Impero Romano (Pax, un concetto particolarmente vitale durante il regno di Augusto) dopo circa cento anni di guerre.

The Ara Pacis Augustae (Latin, "Altar of Augustan Peace"; commonly shortened to Ara Pacis) is an altar in Rome dedicated to the Pax Romana. The monument was commissioned by the Roman Senate on July 4, 13 BC to honour the return of Augustus to Rome after three years in Hispania and Gaul and consecrated on January 30, 9 BC.
