Synopsis. After mill worker Jess Oakroyd is forced to leave home, he becomes friends with shy Elizabeth Trant, music teacher Inigo Jollifant and traveling minstrel Morton Mitcham. The foursome join forces with a floundering theatrical troupe that stars ambitious singer Susie Dean.
