Patrice Louise Rushen (born September 30, 1954) is an American jazz pianist and R&B singer. She is also a composer, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and music director. Her 1982 single " Forget Me Nots " received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance .
Doc Powell, 97th & Columbus. Doc Powell has been playing guitar professionally for more than two decades and has worked with many of the top names in R&B, including Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick. 97th & Columbus is his seventh contemporary jazz project and his first release on the Heads Up International label.
O’s Notes: Old school R&B fans will really enjoy this one as Doc revisits some cool classics. “Breezin”, “Sun Goddess” and “What’s Going On” are among the ten tracks. Guests George Duke (p), Marcus Miller (b), Patrice Rushen (p) and drummer Harvey Mason give it that special touch.

Thankfully, both her longtime loyalists and those who may be new to her many musical charms will have the opportunity to celebrate her legacy tomorrow evening when she fittingly receives the Trailblazer Award during the Salute THEM Awards ceremony.
Prelusion is the debut album from jazz musician and later R&B recording artist Patrice Rushen. The first of three albums she would record with Prestige Records, the album was mainly instrumental jazz which was her main focus as an artist before focusing on popular R & B recordings four years later after signing with Elektra Records.
