Joseph Leslie Sample, noto come Joe Sample (Houston, 1º febbraio 1939 – Houston, 12 settembre 2014), è stato un pianista e compositore statunitense. Nel 1961 è stato cofondatore del gruppo The Jazz Crusaders, che dal 1971 mutarono il nome in The Crusaders.
Joseph Leslie Sample (February 1, 1939 – September 12, 2014) was an American jazz, Jazz fusion keyboardist and composer. He was one of the founding members of The Jazz Crusaders in 1960, the band which shortened its name to "The Crusaders" in 1971.
Rise was one of the first pop albums to use digital recording technology. It was recorded on a 3M 32-track recorder at Alpert's A&M Records studios in Hollywood, California. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart and at No. 6 on both the Billboard 200 and R&B album chart, selling more than three million copies.

"Carmel" is the fourth solo album by the legendary Jazz pianist Joe Sample. It featured the hot single "Sunrise", released in 1979 on MCA label.
