St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s opened its doors in 1950, realizing the dream of the Reverend Mother Ruth, who envisioned a school community that would reflect the racial and ethnic diversity of New York City, respect and celebrate the faith backgrounds of all families, and foster a deep understanding of each student as a uniquely sacred human being.
St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's School is an independent, Episcopal day school in New York City. It is located in Morningside Heights on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The youngest students are beginners (2 or 3 years old), and students graduate when they complete eighth grade.

St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's flourishes in a ten-story building that was specifically designed and built as a children's school. At our school each member is cherished and encouraged to grow in knowledge, in faith, and in love of self and others.
Our Campus. St. Hilda‘s & St. Hugh‘s was built expressly for the purpose of educating young children. Constructed in 1967, the school has been thoroughly and thoughtfully renovated over the past 15 years.
