Sweet Deceiver is the sixth studio album by Kevin Ayers and his last for Island Records. It is one of Ayers’ more rock-oriented productions, with the first side featuring the progressive material, while the second was more mainstream.

A cursory look at the line up here will reveal that a certain Elton John plays piano on three of the tracks, although it must be remembered that while his star was rapidly rising, he was far from being the superstar he subsequently became. "Sweet deceiver" consists of nine diverse tracks.
Everyone who attended the performances received a hardbound "yearbook" of the band's history. That year, he also played piano on Kevin Ayers's Sweet Deceiver and was among the first and few white artists to appear on the African-American television series Soul Train.
