Barbara Bluestein Simons (born January 26, 1941) is an American computer scientist and the former president of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). She is a Ph.D. graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and spent her early career working as an IBM researcher.

26 gen 2021 · About Barbara Simons. Barbara Simons received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California, Berkeley in 1981. Following an on campus interview, she joined the Research Division of IBM. There she focused on compiler optimization, algorithm analysis and design and scheduling theory.
Barbara Simons served as ACM President from 1998–2000. What motivated you to run for ACM president? I had been ACM secretary from 1990–1992 (when John White was president), and I had an idea of the amount of work that could be involved as president.
