Charles Robert Sherman (c. September 26, 1788 – June 24, 1829) was an American lawyer and public servant. Of his 11 children, four became prominent public figures during and after the Civil War . Life and career. Sherman was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, the son of Taylor Sherman, a judge and state representative.

His death was devastating to his family because they did not have another source of income. Mary Hoyt (1787 - 1852) - She was born in Connecticut and married her husband in Connecticut. She and her husband had eleven children.
