De groep bestond uit Theo van Es (zang), Wim van Huis (gitaar), Jan Versteegen (basgitaar) en Henk Versteegen (drums). Van Es ging vervolgens ook solo aan de slag en had korte tijd succes met Hello my love (1972) en de nummer 1-hit met As long as it's love (1979).
After Double You, band members Henk en Jan Versteegen started the Stay Brothers and later on TheStaybrothers Band. After Theo returned to the band in 1974, they started recording and touring under the Shoes moniker once again, resulting in two more Dutch hit singles.

Wim van Huis op gitaar, Jan Versteegen op basgitaar en tweeling broer Henk Versteegen op drums vormen eerst The Rocking Friends. Nadat Theo van Es met zijn markante geraspte geluid zich in 1963 als zanger aanmeldt bij de band noemt men zich “White Shoes”. Men speelt voornamelijk in West Duitsland.

Biografie. Nederland. Theo van Es, Wim van Huis en Jan en Henk Versteegen maakten in 1963 al muziek onder de naam White Shoes. Na twee singles wordt 'White' verwijderd en ontstaat de band die wij kennen als The Shoes.
