Biografia. Nato nell'Ohio nel 1877, cominciò a lavorare nel cinema negli anni dieci del Novecento per la Broncho Film Company. Nella sua carriera diresse 141 film dal 1913 al 1934. Produsse più di trenta film e ne interpretò una ventina. Lavorò anche come sceneggiatore e direttore di produzione.
