    Bill Perkins (1924–2003) Born in San Francisco as William Reese Perkins, Bill Perkins was a tenor and baritone saxophonist, flautist and clarinettist. A consistent and melodically inventive soloist, in his early career he had a light, fluid saxophone style originally influenced by Lester Young, which was well represented on recordings with pianist John Lewis, and under his own name.
